Okay, so it wasn't a whole car...
Yesterday we opened the 'Road Trip' series with "Road trip 01: Julia. " Two brothers travelling through South Germany in a VW Bus pick up a couple of hitch hikers, one of whom (Julia) is quite a character.
I'm a perfectionist when it comes to sets and I don't like cardboard. It was going to be real bus seats or nothing so we pulled the back two rows out of an Opel van and set them up in the sanctuary. We had sound effects for the engine, horn and doors, which was a technical step up for the team. There is a new element every month to improve quality and help the team learn as they work together.

Don't be fooled by the relaxed look... It was quite stressful. The team had to pull together to make it work, which made for some "great discipleship opportunities" funny how the two go together.
The service was the second and had to be in the evening because of a special outdoor service and family day in the morning. There were about 55 people in the congregation. Next service is the 20th of August, less than three weeks, so please pray!
We also found A new use for Lutheran hymnbooks; adding weight to a backpack. I knew they were good for something...
