Thoughts on learning a Language

Michi is organised. I am not. Michi can put something on a shelf, and three weeks later when I’m hunting under the bed she can just tell me where it is.

I put something on a shelf and unless I use it all the time I forget where it is. On average I think I forget things within 17.2 seconds. On a good day.

It's the same with names, unless I am with someone a lot, I put their name on a mental shelf intending to remember it - and then loose it. I think this is my problem with languages. When I learn a German word I have to keep using it, or it goes one of those shelves...

How long until I forget it?
