Figuring out a “New” way to look at the Christmas story and present it to people, who aren’t believers, is an annual difficulty, and it isn’t made any easier because there are certain expectations for a traditional Christmassy-type piece. However, in an effort to make people think we’re going to focus on the way people became curious about Jesus, but it was not until they met him that they really realised what it was that they were curious about, and at that point they had to make a decision to have a relationship or not. I’m working closely on this with our pastor and youth pastor and we’re considering both of the services as a whole with the storytelling and the preaching and music integrated.

We’re hoping to have two dramas focusing on the shepherds and wise men using some modern equivalent (Such as homeless people and media stars) and run almost the same story in the morning and evening, but with the lines slightly altered so the audience sees the story from a different perspective.

In the meantime, I’m off to the woods to prepare for the Waldweihnacht…
