Church Model "Killing the West"?

I follow a number of blogs from different places, notably the "Missional Living" blog published by Jerry Frear in the US. This entry in particular caught my eye. The main premise was that we have to get away from the idea of "Getting people to church" and instead focus on equipping members to go and reach those around them as an incarnational ministry. Or as the article put it, we need to get away from "Come and see" and move into "Go and be" focus in our services. Is the way we run our churches to try and get people to come causing more harm than good? If this is the case where does this leave our current church growth ideas? What do you think?
