I think I mentioned that having tried to reach people by being something I’m not for some time, I eventually decided to be myself, and do what I’m good at, and try and reach people that way. One of the ways I do this is making (very, very small) model railways and getting to know people through that. I’ve had a couple of deeper conversations with people but I’ve always tried to build relationship first, rather than preach at people. Trouble is, that takes time, and for one friend time ran out this week when he lost his life to lung cancer. I knew that he was having chemotherapy, but I only heard this morning that he’d died.
Which leaves the inevitable question: could I have done more in the four months since I got to know him?
