Sorry about the lack of blog entries over the last week. I’ve been working on the October drama, and it is a lot more involved than the usual ones. The name for this piece is: “Baroness Isabella von Katzenberg’s evil and despicable plans for world domination” but that’s a bit sneaky really because it’s really about how the heroine, Viola, is persuaded to stop trying to maintain her lifestyle and save the world. It’s very similar to “the fiendish experiment of Professor Ohnelieb” from last year: more overdone characters, more oddball inventions, although hopefully on a larger scale, and of course, more explosions. I’m working on the basis that people who liked last year will want more of the same, and new people will see it for the first time anyway. Next year we’ll make something different.
The translation is well underway: three people have agreed to translate, and one of them (Dominic) spent six solid hours working through the thing with me yesterday. It sounds considerably better to my ears in German, but then it always does...
The exciting thing is how storytelling can allow more people to be part of the worship: Ruprecht the Supertech is already getting excited at the possibilities for sound effects and videos, and I’m working with a new member of the team and former arts teacher to make some of the odder props that we will be using, and people who have no interest in “theatre” and wouldn’t ever want to ‘lead worship’ are getting involved.
Just pray that it all comes together in time…
