We've been thinking and praying a heck of a lot about what 'Church' is, and how that looks, and our relationship with this thing called 'church'. We are fortunate that we aren't employed by a church as such, because it gives us a lot of freedom to work under the radar and try out new stuff, but we are even wondering about the slightly wider boundaries we have now, and how so often in church, when we try 'something new' we aren't doing much more than changing the programme: we are still making a programme, and we still have a small group of people at the front and a lot of people sitting and facing them.
So, when we agreed to host a home group for our young people we decided we'd try and allow for more involvement and avoid a 'top down' approach. We're going to try and step back to facilitating and challenging the group to just love each other and see what happens. Please pray with us as we work out how this will look for us and for the young people that we are working with. This is a long term project in a church culture that thinks in terms of programmes and expects a meeting to have a leader at the front, but we think it is worth a try.
Honestly, the unoriginal name came about by accident...
