Professor Ohnelieb's Evil Experiment with the Potential to Destroy the World

The October outreach for the Kirbe village festival continues with ‘Professor Ohnelieb’s Evil Experiment with the potential to destroy the world’. This represents an exciting new area for us, working outdoors and in a much more bombastic and energetic style. The story will be pre sented in three seven-minute scenes as part of an evangelistic service, which is hopefully going to be quite different from even the normal ‘Modern’ services in Kemnat. The idea was presented to the team last night, and received a mixed response. Some of the team find this a big step out of their safety zone, because it is so different. Others are apprehensive but excited at the new style, which will include a video presentation, one character making an entrance on the church roof, and much more audience interaction than we have had previously in this church.

The story is of Professor Ohnelieb (Lit: “Without love”, I suppose that’s rather like ‘Doctor Loveless’ in ‘Wild, Wild West”) who is gradually destroying the world with his increasingly dangerous experiments, and VPG (Very Poisonous Goo) The professor is about to embark on a terrible new experiment, and it is up to the hero to try and persuade his minions, Evil servants one and two, to stand up and stop him before it is too late.

Dominic and I completed the first draft of the script, which is in a mix of English and German, yesterday, and Dominic is translating it for the next team meeting on Wednesday.

Meanwhile I’m starting to look towards November, and a script for the service then and Christmas, which promises to be the busiest yet, with two services and the ‘Waldweihnacht’, when we will prepare an evening for children and parents to go for a journey in the forest.
