Last night we had rehearsals for “Bankruptcy” in the church, which was rather like trying to prepare a drama in a fridge. The Xpresso team still managed to have a fun and productive time, and laid some good foundations to work from next time. They really hardly need me in rehearsals at all: I just keep a general overview as they come up with ever more creative ideas and suggestions. Don't tell them though, because Wednesday night rehearsals are one of my weekly highlights.
I’m still working on the January piece, where one aim is to have the whole of Xpresso involved in the presentation, and it seems to be developing and growing, and we are getting positive feedback from people involved. At the moment the two mime pieces will work around the general themes of rejection and abuse. It’s going to be interesting putting that into a form that not only works in a church but also fits with the monologue and the sermon. On the other hand there is one advantage with the mimed presentation: all this movement will keep the team warm in winter rehearsals.
