For many historical reasons, this vote includes about 2300 people, most of whom are nominal Lutherans, which means they pay church tax but we almost never see in a service (normal church attendance on a Sunday: 80). The people standing my also be fairly nominal, but of course once they are part of the church council they have influence in the way the church runs.
Most church members who aren't "actively involved" will simply vote for people they know, not necessarily people who want to further the Good news in the village. We have ten people standing, and thankfully the vast majority are committed believers who are active in the church. Unfortunately not all of these people are known in the village. We would appreciate your prayer so that we can have a church council (locally and regionally) which will try and further the gospel, not hold it back.
I'll tell you about the regional elections when I’ve worked my way through the pile…
